Jim Interviewed About Legislative Session
Discusses challenges and expected legislation...
Rep. Jim Denning, an Overland Park Republican, was interviewed recently by former statehouse correspondent Jim Sullinger about the opening of the 2012 Kansas legislature and the challenges lawmakers face.
Why I Am Running...
...Budget, jobs, and health care
Kansas is a great state to live, work, raise a family, and own a business. There is great clamor for “solutions” from our government. I think I can help balance the budget, get spending under control, and bring new workable ideas to get companies hiring again. I plan to use my business experience from being a financial analyst and CEO of a large medical group employing almost 300 employees to offer a business perspective to the budget and jobs challenges rather than old school politics. Nothing will get fixed until we acknowledge that we can not continue to do things like we have in the past. I want to be part of transformation structural changes to tax policy, K-12 education finance, and new delivery systems in health care. When I am finished with my term I want to leave Kansas in better shape than it was when I joined the legislature.
